The first US cryptoasset ETF with staking will begin trading on Wednesday this week, according to REX Shares. This product will provide investors with an opportunity to access Solana (SOL) while receiving staking rewards on the chain - a novel feature in exchange-traded funds.
Solana's price increased nearly 4% within an hour after the announcement, indicating strong market interest. The ETF is expected to be listed under the ticker SSK.
Major Step for Solana ETFs in the US
This ETF combines direct access to Solana with staking profit benefits. Investors will hold shares reflecting both SOL's price and rewards from on-chain staking activities.
This also makes it the first US ETF to distribute native staking income to shareholders.
Unlike traditional ETFs requiring lengthy SEC approval under exchange regulations, the REX-Osprey product uses a unique regulatory structure.
It is registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and operates through a C-corporation, allowing launch without filing 19b-4.
Moreover, this structure avoids direct SEC engagement on staking enforcement issues, which have delayed many pending spot ETF applications.
Notably, REX Shares previously received an informal SEC confirmation that no pending comments exist about their filing.
The ETF will be available to US investors and provide 24/5 liquidation, commission-free access (through certain platforms), and transparent reward distribution.
Unlike cryptocurrency exchange staking programs, investors maintain full access through a regulated financial instrument.
This marks a significant milestone for cryptoasset management in the US. It demonstrates that staking-based returns can coexist with regulated ETF frameworks - an area previously considered gray by regulators.

It also puts pressure on pending Solana spot ETF candidates like VanEck and 21Shares. Their filings, based on standard exchange-traded commodity trust structures, are still under SEC review and do not include staking components.
Therefore, the REX-Osprey product could serve as a regulatory solution model for others.
