TRM Labs: 75 crypto-attacks in the first half of 2025, with losses exceeding $2.1 billion

TRM Labs reported that there were 75 crypto attacks in the first half of 2025, with losses exceeding $2.1 billion, setting a new record for the same period. 80% of these attacks originated from private key leaks, seed phrase theft, and front-end hijacking. The largest case was the Bybit attack, allegedly led by North Korea, causing $1.5 billion in losses, accounting for nearly 70% of the total. Additionally, an Israel-affiliated group attacked the Iranian exchange Nobitex in June, resulting in $90 million in losses. TRM called on the industry to strengthen cold wallets, MFA, and global collaboration to address nation-state threats.
