U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Mullen Automotive dropped a bombshell this week, announcing that starting immediately, its three commercial electric vehicles: Mullen ONE, Mullen THREE, and Bollinger B4, can be directly purchased using BTC or Trump meme coin $TRUMP, setting a precedent for payment with TRUMP.
Purchase Process Takes Only Minutes
Mullen stated that buyers can generate a one-time address through a third-party crypto gateway, and after on-chain confirmation, they can schedule vehicle delivery, with the entire process taking only minutes. Available models include the Bollinger B4 with a range of 185 miles (payload of 7,325 pounds), Class 1 cargo van Mullen ONE, and Class 3 chassis vehicle Mullen THREE. CEO David Michery said in the press release:
Crypto payment allows us to reach entirely new commercial and consumer groups and provide more flexible transaction options.
Expanding Customer Base and Differentiation
According to CryptoTimes' report today, 13% of small and medium-sized business owners in the U.S. already hold crypto assets, and many listed companies have successively announced direct BTC reserves. The topic of "buying electric vehicles with Bitcoin" has further raised visibility for this manufacturer with over 50 dealerships.
However, the $TRUMP meme coin has fluctuated over 45% in the past 30 days, and if Mullen does not exchange immediately, there could be a price discrepancy before vehicle delivery. Additionally, for tax purposes, crypto payments are considered asset exchanges, requiring additional reporting, which could increase accounting costs and potentially become a risk for the company.
