The blockchain development company Moca Foundation has announced the launch of Moca Chain, a new Layer 1 blockchain focused on securely and decentrally verifying identity and personal data.
Moca Chain is specifically designed for identity management and user data applications, aiming to support identity protocols that allow individuals, devices, and AI agents to control and verify their information without relying on centralized service providers.
According to the Wednesday announcement, the network will launch its testnet in the third quarter of 2025 and deploy the mainnet in the fourth quarter of the same year.
Moca Foundation stated that Moca Chain will enable applications on any blockchain to verify user data both on-chain and off-chain. The system will use the MOCA token for purposes such as transaction fees, validator Staking, storage, oracle services, data creation, and verification.
Moca Network's identity management software development toolkit – called AIR Kit – has already been integrated into platforms of many partners, including companies in the Animoca Brands investment portfolio, partners, and affiliates. According to Moca, this helps the network reach over 700 million potential users.
Data from systems integrated with AIR Kit will be provided to protocols and applications built on Moca Chain, including the OK Cashbag customer loyalty program in South Korea (with over 28 million verified users) and the German football media company One Football, which currently has around 200 million monthly active users.
